Received this:

LG knows that the Lollipop upgrade is a big deal and will commence the rollout of the new software to New Zealand customers commencing the 23 of January, 2015.

LG G3 users will progressively receive automated notifications from LG to upgrade their software to Lollipop, if they wish, from this date. The rollout schedule to owners is anticipated to be completed by the end of February 2015.

Those customers who do not receive an automated notification or want to do a manual check of the available new software can follow these simple steps to check for new software availability.

From the home screen:

  • Select ‘Apps’ icon

    • Select ‘Settings’
    • Select ‘General’ tab at the top of the screen
    • Scroll down and select ‘About Phone’ menu option
    • Select ‘Update Centre’
    • Select ‘Soft’ware Updates’
  • From this menu the user can see and select the Lollipop software upgrade.

It is advised that the software is downloaded over Wi-Fi and when the phone battery is fully charged or plugged into power due to the size of file and duration of download.

*Release dates are subject to change as a result of unforeseen testing or software distribution issues and any updates to the above OS release schedule will be advised to customers.

I also reported the release of Lollipop for the G3 back on 10 January - see http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=146678&page_no=5#1211580

Mine is a parallel-imported model, but only got the notification about 9 Jan; iPsyc - did you manually download the update or did you receive a pushed notification?

I still occassionally have the problem with wifi not reconnecting (this is a well-documented problem with the G3 (eg at http://www.naldotech.com/fix-lg-g3-wi-fi-connectivity-issues/), and one I would have thought LG would have completely sorted by now), but certainlyit occurs less with 4.4. I too am having the home screen crash occasionally since the upgrade.

Mine is parallel-imported, and I did get my update somewhere around Dec, cannot remember the exact date. Right now I've installed Cloudy2.1 custom ROM as Lollipop seemed to drain my battery alot quicker than 4.4 Kitkat.

Will definitely jump on CM12 once it becomes all stable.

I never had those wifi problems, maybe try factory reset?

My LG G3 updated to Android 5.0 around 2pm on the 23rd of January. Right on time.

I bought mine on December 18th at the 2Degrees store at Sylvia Park in Auckland.

Well done, LG.
