Can a S5 owner tell me if the phone will power up a 2.5" external drive via OTG cable or will the drive need an external power supply?
Thanks.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

I think you will find that depends on the drive. I have an old note2. It will run some drives and not some others.

The Note 2 output less power to connected devices than later Samsung phones, I used a 2tb drive with my Note 3 without an external power source (drive formatted to Fat32, unsure how much difference that might have made). I would think the S5 should manage most.

My S5 powers up a 2.5" iomega hard drive via OTG no worries.
