I had a bit of a play, but I think I prefer using Gmail's ActiveSync capabilities.

The big thing for me, believe it or not, is how the email client handles Geekzone forum notification emails. These come through as plain text. The Outlook beta fails to turn this URL into a link. Gmail makes the URL clickable.

I like what Microsoft are trying to do, but if they want people to use the app then they're going to have to give people a compelling reason to switch.

I am running this side by side on my work phone with the standard email app (as of this morning)

So far it seems OK.  I'm using it for Exchange.  Works well for email so far, other than it being a bit laggy.  Not surprising considering my phone is low end and getting old

The only annoyance so far is that it doesn't seem to be syncing my calendar with our Exchange server.

Got the same problem with Geekzone URL's but interestingly that also happens for me on the stock e-mail client. I have now switched to Blue Mail which I think is really good and also Google's Inbox.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Interesting, because the Windows Phone mail client works fine, as Outlook 2013. But Windows 8.1 Mail Modern app fails to hyperlink the URLs. I actually found out that it only happened for me if it was a mix of text email plus Office 365. Other combinations and Windows 8.1 Mail did the hyperlink ok.

Reported to Microsoft but it seems no one is really interested in fixing this as I found out in their own forums with other people complaining.

On my Android device I actually use the GMail client since it now supports multiple accounts and with the Google Exchange Services it just works (TM). Actually the combination of Google Exchange Services, Google Calendar and GMail client is exactly what was missing to make me move to Android - it now handles emails and calendaring like a native application would.

Outlook 2013 for PC should be made free of charge as well tbh... or at least included with any Office 365/Exchange subscription.
