KitKat update came with a status area torch switch so I used it. When the led goes on there is an audible pop so I did wonder if this kind of use is good for it.

Are there any torch applications with brightness control for the led?

I've had a look, and I can't find any torch apps that have adjustable brightness. Pretty much all of them seem to be on, or off, with no in between.

That pop doesn't sound good. What phone do you have? Does it happen to be one of the types that has a both a xenon flash and an LED flash? That might account for the pop.

And for what it's worth, some phones do work nicely with the torch flash. I've used the feature with both the Samsung S2 and S4 for ages with no issue.

I have experienced this pop also on all phones I've had (lower end) with a flash.
I also wondered what the cause of the noise was.
