I have been wondering for years why you can't specify which order you want your devices to connect to in Android.

For example. If I am paired to my Headset, and I get into the car, why can't my phone say "the car has a higher priority" and then pair to it?

It seems like such a useful thing, and so basic too, I can't believe a single vendor has come up with a way?

been a while since i used it, but check the app called "Bluetooth Auto Connect" im pretty sure i was able to specify priority between the devices.

Can you achieve this using Tasker?
Looks like this plugin could make it easier.

It's right up there as one of my pet hates with all phone operating systems.. The other is that you can't list WiFi networks by hierarchy either which is incredibly annoying for me on a day to day basis.

sbiddle: Is it a design or standards issue do you know? Is it just that they don't want to do this for some weird political reason? Seems insane that in 5 major mobile OS's it's not been implemented in a single one. Seems to indicate a hardware limitation.

The wifi networks priority is something that is exposed by several android modifications, possibly some OEM software too. Haven't seen bluetooth though.

Another annoyance is that you cant split the audio, and use a bluetooth mic for talking into, but the 3.5mm output for audio to the car stereo to get better quality and no dropouts, as soon as that 3.5mm plug is in, it switches back to the phones inbuilt mic, which works really well in a cupholder.
