I managed to install the Google wallet app on my s4 and after adding my card to the tap and pay option, it returns this error: https://imgur.com/1C6ISqP

Wondering if there's a way to get past this? I'd quite like to use my phone at the checkout to pay.

Apologies for the lack of formatting, typing this on my phone.

Did you use a US Credit Card?

Are you on the Sprint network?

International Devices At this time, Google Wallet does not support devices purchased outside the United States. The eligible device list above only applies to devices purchased from the listed carriers next to them. For example, an unlocked Samsung Galaxy SIII purchased internationally will not work with Google Wallet.

Nope, I'm using an NZ card on 2degrees.
That's why I was wondering if anyone had bypassed it or something.

Depending on which NZ bank issued the card, you may be able to use Semble when it launches.

If your phone supports Touch2Pay it may work with Semble.

I believe people have bypassed it but with very limited success, the transactions aren't accepted on NZ terminals. Google will have to officially bring the service to NZ for this to happen. We will have more luck with a local solution im afraid.

I see 2degrees are speaking at the next paymark forum on the 25th, hopefully with some good news on upcoming mobile payments ;)

The issue is Google Wallet does not support international transactions no matter what credit card you use. I have tried using a US credit card and receive the same error.

The only time I ever got Google Wallet NFC to work (Mastercard Paypass) was when Google Wallet first came out and it was a debit card. They gave users a $10 credit to sign up and I added more credit using a US credit card. I then used it twice in Wellington, at Leuvens bar and a now closed sushi place. Since it was a debit transaction it I guess went through a different network.

As you can see it was a while ago!

Once Google converted it to a credit card system, transactions no longer worked.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Huh, could've sworn it was still a debit card system

it might still be. All I know is I added a few credit cards to the phone app and tried to use it but had no luck with any cards being the active one, either local or a US card.

But I also have a Google wallet debit MasterCard so I have added that also and made that the default payment card. I need to top it up and then try to see if it works  on a MasterCard Paypass terminal.
