I've moved from 2Degrees to Spark network. I was hoping that I would be able to bring my Samsung Galaxy s III mini with me onto Spark's network. When I put my Spark SIM into the sIII i get the error "not registered on network".

Surely there's config about to allow this device to run on Spark's network. It's not locked appartently. Does anyone know what I need to do to get this up and running on Spark's network?

The Galaxy S3 Mini came in 2 versions the 2degrees/Vodafone version that supported a frequency of 3G 900MHZ and the Spark version that supported 3G 850MHZ. As Spark operate on the 850MHZ band the Vodafone/2degrees version will not work unless you happen to be in one of the small Spark areas that has a infill frequency of 2100MHZ. Short answer is because of the different frequencies used your S mini will effectively not work. To get a device that works on all operators you would need a device that supports quad band 3G

No config can change the bands the handset supports, You will need new handset

As others have said, because of support for different frequencies between the two phone versions your current SIII mini is next to useless.

I moved all of our 140 users across (we had a small number of users on SIII minis) from VF to Spark and all phones worked except those on the SIII minis. Someone at Telecom at the time had foolishly told us all our Smartphones on VF would work on Telecoms network. Opps.

The SIII minis had one of the required frequencies so we found they would work in some places, but not where we needed them to work

One last hope/question - the fixes/hacks noted in the url below, are they an option, or am I completely stuck with buying a new handset?
