Hi, I was thinking about getting this phone but not sure if there's any unseen issues or costs with buying phones like this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Unlocked-Samsung-Galaxy-S4-GT-I9500-Android-13MP-Smart-Phone-Black-16GB-/171573458079?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27f293349f

The last one i bought was a Motorola razr I off ebay and it was fine and a lot cheaper than buying phones in nz,

Thanks

As long as it stays carrier unlocked with future factory resets or flashed roms etc.

Don't get an i9500. It's the 3G-only version with an Exynos chipset - NZTechFreak had one for a while & had no end of issues with throttling, overheating, poor performance, and poor battery life. Get the i9506 with the Snapdragon 800 chipset, or at least the the i9505.

Nik has a terrible habit of always being right when it comes to this sort of thing. :)

He meant 3G only as in it doesn't do 4G.

Yes, 3G-only in that it does not support 4G.

Yes. No 4g on i9500.
The nice thing about i9505 in addition to 4g support is that it had the same chipset as the Google play edition, so it's an easy port for vanilla rom.

So? GSM is pretty much redundant. I always switch it off on phones where possible because nothing is worse than finding that data is useless and you have to toggle airplane mode to get it back on 3G.
