I would like to know if the delay in rolling out Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900I) is due to Samsung bringing out 5.1 or 5.1.1 with the fixes or they are they just being slack.

I'm seriously thinking my next phone / tablet won't be a Samsung if its just due to them being slack, or do the Telco's now have the release and they are Testing ??

I would love an update from someone in the know.

There is a process of writing / testing / psuhed out, I am sure the next update will be 5.02 and not 5.1

The change from 4.4.x to 5.x is not going to improve your life much, The carriers test and approve or fail the test and then it's back to Samsung Korea to push out once it's approved

There is no delay for start as a date was never given by any carrier or Samsung that lollipop would be pushed out

I do understand there is a process to complete, but Lollipop was made available to Taiwan way back on the 15th of January its now the 22 April and maybe I'm reading this wrong are Vodafone still waiting for the release from Samsung to test ?.

Don't get me wrong I do like Samsung hardware but their Software update schedule could be better and more transparent.  At least with Apple or Google Nexus units your kept updated for a few years, including features performance and security updates its quite disappointing.

I also have a Tab pro 12.2 I doubt I'll see any updates till next year at this rate.

You're not missing out on much to be honest, I've been flashing successive open British 5.0 firmwares onto my S5 and for the most part it is just horribly laggy. 3-4 seconds to open the recents switcher and the memory leak which means you have to regularly reboot the device.

The Note 4 and S4 which have 5.0.1 are getting much better performance.

I'm running my own compiled CM12.1 (5.1.1) and I'll be sticking with that till we see an official 5.1 released for the S5.

Thanks I want to keep the S5 vanilla but if we get into the 3rd quarter of this year without any movement I may just jump to Cyanogen Mod for this phone.
