I  have a Dell Venue 7 with 3g voice ability I know very rare

The unit itself is cheap and cheerful. ($199)

I need to do a trip in a few months and I need to load up with airport maps and audible facebook etc

I am running 4.4.4 on the venue

I can put a , i think 64gb sd card in but of course that doesnt solve the issue of

"insufficient space" for loading apps

I do not wish to "root" the unit (you know in English that means "totally screw the item up" don't you?)

SO!

Is there a 5" or above screen phone that will take a 63gb sd card and will automatically move apps to the sd card without reinventing the wheel for under say $300 does not have to be 4g can be 3g. Ease of operation is the major factor.

Your views and comments are much appreciated

Isn't it app specific as to what can be moved across? My daughter has a Moto G 8gb with 32GB SD card in it and some apps (camera, music etc) will let you select the SD card for storage, and other apps will let you move the entire app to SD, (done through app manager), maybe you can move enough across to make use of the Dell's inbuilt memory

This feature does not require root access

Its just outside my level of knowledge I thought it may have something to do with the version of android it was running. Do you know which app she has installed that allows you to select the drive?

Its not done in or through the app itself. Its done through the Android settings menu, look for a Manage Applications type menu. This will take you to a list of apps (usually downloaded, running, all), where you can pick each app then choose to uninstall, clear data or cache, disable (for built in apps) and finally to move data to SD card.

Sorry couldn't tell you off hte cuff, she's 9yo so plenty of selfie/video effects etc lol

Try a few of your apps Menu / Settings / Apps / *app*

If you can move specific apps to the SD card there will be a button present, sorry i can't screenshot at the mo to show you as my phone doesn't have external SD capability so nothing there to show you

With apps such as camera, Google Music etc the option to store files on SD card is usually buried somewhere in their in app menus

Well that's interesting I have just read on a forum that the move apps feature in android is not switched on on the dell device I have. Can not be switched on ...easily. So guess whats going on TM next week!
