Love my Note4 and used it to watch BBC live streaming through the iplayer when on KitKat 4.4.4

Updated to Lollipop 5.0.1 through Spark and can no longer stream BBC or ITV which is a little disappointing (but not crucial). I can download and then watch, but streaming seems to lock the phone up. I have cleared cache, reinstalled etc. Unblockers work fine.

A person I spoke to at Spark suggested it may be the security certificates that need to be updated and Spark will not allow use of this programme. I find that a little hard to believe and suspect there may be a problem elsewhere.

If you have a Note4 on Spark, could you please advise whether you can stream the live channels, which means I am going to have to investigate other solutions. Maybe it is not just Spark, but affects Vodafone users as well, in which case it may be the build that was provided by Sammy to NZ carriers.

Many thanks

Just bumping this one up as it had no replies after a week. I guess nobody uses BBC iplayer on their Note 4?

Does anyone use the TV3 on Demand? ..... because I notice that that particular app just crashes now (not that I ever really use it).

Tried iplayer on my Note 2 at home a couple of days back.
Worked fine.
Thats on 4.4.2 and using the wifi at home.

Are you trying this on wifi or mobile data (eeek - the expense!)

What unblocker are you using?

Just a thought - but I wonder if the google DNS servers need to be blocked (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 from memory) - though I would think if there were really an issue you would probably just get that 'not allowed in your area' message.

oh Spark helpdesk you will always be a source of amusement

so when you say  streaming seems to lock the phone up. do you mean the app is crashing or the phone itself has crashed and you have to hard reset the phone like pulling the battery out or what?

does the phone get really hot while its streaming?

Can you stream from youtube etc for a decently long period without your phone locking up?

Thanks for the suggestion and have been down that path.

It was working fine until I updated the Note 4 from 4.4.3 to Lollipop 5.0.1.

My Note 2 still works fine and the wifes Note 3 also works. (Did I mention we are a Sammy household?). This seems to be a Lollipop issue with the current firmware. Interested to see any other Note 4 (Lollipop) user experiences and if this an issue specific to Spark firmware.

Here you go:

EDIT:They mention 5.0.2 and you mentioned 5.0.1 - but it may be your issue too.

Dan and Rob, thanks for the help and as Rob so rightly points out, the above link is my problem.

Quote from BBC website "We believe an update from Samsung resolves the issue. However, updates to devices may be controlled by your mobile network provider. So while some have already received the update others have not."

I guess this is going to be a wait and see, but I suspect I will be waiting a long time sadly. Oh well, sometimes progress really is one step forwards and 2 back lol. I really should not have upgraded from KitKat because that was working real well.

Again thanks guys
