I've got a 2degrees S5 mini bought from PB tech on the Vodafone network. Does anyone know what my options are?

When I first flashed up my phone I got an OS update so there must be some mechanism.

Any updates are related to the network the handset was made for not the carriers SIM card used in the handset

Software updates work like so:

 - Software update is built by the manufacturer, e.g. Samsung, on a per-model basis, and often on a per-network operator basis. So there is a version of the GALAXY S5 mini's software built especially for every network that has sold the phone.

 - Software update is sent to the network operator for testing.

 - Network operator completes testing and tells the manufacturer it's good to go.

 - Manufacturer rolls the update out to applicable devices.

In this case, Samsung knows your S5 Mini is the 2degrees variant because it has 2degrees software on it. When 2degrees approves the next update, Samsung will roll it out to your phone. Updates have nothing to do with the SIM card in the handset, only the software that is already on the phone.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

 - Nik

Updated my 2 degrees 900i to lollipop.

Feels a bit slower. This was even after a reset. Might have to restart a couple of times and hopefully it will improve.

After a restart or two it is similar speed. Maybe faster (although that is expected anyway after a reset and purging old apps)
