I've stumbled across an unusual problem which uncle google has been unable to help me resolve.

A wee while ago my brother brought mum a Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini as a replacement for her old small phone. Yesterday I set her up with a Google account and put this into her phone to enable contact backups etc. However, upon opening Google Play I found it doesn't display anything at all under "My Apps". With a little digging I found this is an Irish phone* which has been parallel imported.

I've tried all the "fixes" I can find via searching the web, such as clearing the cache and data on both the Google Play app and Google Play Services. I've also uninstalled Google Play and let it reinstall itself as well as removing the Google account and logging in again. Various combinations of the above have produced no joy. I'm wondering if I'll need to set her up with a second Google account and set it's location to Ireland for this to work.

Any useful suggestions to help resolve this would be appreciated.

I was under the impression the phone original country doesn't matter, only the account - exception being non-licensed Android devices which didn't have Google Play originally.

Isn't this the case anymore?

The most common problem with google play is that the date/time/timezone is incorrect on the phone - it then can't authenticate securely and therefore doesn't work.

I would check this first.

I'd flash it via ODIN with NZ firmware for the Telco she's using.
Won't void the warranty and will be better optimised for the NZ network anyway. Likely will solve the playstore issue aswell.

Don't know - all I do know is play isn't playing.

Good suggestion. Checked this - timezone set for NZ.

I've considered this too, it may well be the best track to go down.

Cheers for the responses!

If its a new account, would there be anything in my apps at all anyway?
