Moto G 2014 5.1?

I have seen a number of 1st gens with the 5.1 update but none for me yet.

I purchased mine from pbtech, dual sim. Works well but in NZ but mod probably not supported by nz carriers. Is there any way to figure that out for sure?

Have you check the motorola website?

Mine is 1st gen Moto G on 5.1.1, but I imported mine from the US, US global retail version.

The Motorola support site says the device will get marshmallow. That's nice but still looking for 5.1 ; )

Motorola site chat support gave me the number for motorola nz support.

Called that and the guy asked for my imei and explained that Motorola/google release updates to 'batches' of devices and 5.1 would be released for my batch 'soon'. The reason earlier devices have it is because they were purchased earlier. This is good info but not very precise.

I do not really need Nexus but I am reluctantly considering it only because it has better update support.

Actually I would be happy paying an additional $50-$100 for exact same or current model as my existing phone with faster update support. Seems really silly taking this long to get stage fright update for one of the better supported devices.

Otoh this is a dual sim and maybe I should look at getting away from that if it means the back of the queue.
