The Huawei devices have excellent finger scanners. Their phones have gone from strength to strength in the last 18 months

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Yep, Huawei have made big strides. I had the P8Max and enjoyed it. Regards the Mate S I would recommend skipping it and going for the Mate 8. The Kirin 935 SoC in the S is not that good (same one in the P8Max, poor GPU), whereas the 950 in the 8 looks competitive.

Its not yet clear if the Mate 8 will be available for the NZ market, but yes it would be worth waiting for

I hope they bring it here, but I suspect it'll be a PB Tech/grey import only handset in NZ. Outside of the main P8 model they seem to have little will to really bring a lot of their other handsets to wider audiences (maybe not a matter of will, ? not enough scale on the manufacturing front). Whatever the case, I wish it were otherwise. I think I'll probably grab one from AliExpress and see how it goes. I think battery life should be great, and I'll look forward to that as the Nexus 6P I currently have is underwhelming there.

Awaiting delivery of the Mate 8 here, purchased through AliExpress. Looking forward to seeing what it's made of.
