From what I read, it's very heavily subsidised by the Indian government, so I guess saying "it costs $5.50" depends on your definition of the word "costs" :)

Ringing Bells looks to have a few "issues", but are still vocally committed to getting this phone released.

 

Apparently its not subsidized by the Indian government either.

 

The device is called: Ringing Bell Freedom 251

 

Slated for release at the end of April...
