Seems SGS7 owners can have Android 6's adoptable storage feature if they want it.

I have not tried this. I may do it when my 200GB micro-SD arrives.

I've put the 200GB Micro-SD into my SGS7.

I then followed the instructions for merging it into system storage.

Doing the math: I added 200GB to 32GB for a notional total of 232GB. But some will be lost due to the usual disk architecture considerations and some more will not be available due to already being in use.

So the phone now says I have 76GB used out of 256GB. Which is odd...because the total should be 232GB. So I'm assuming the phantom 24GB is included in the 76GB used....which kind of lines up with 32GB actually being in use (total) prior...plus the 24GB....plus some loss due to disk architecture (another 20GB roughly?)

It would seem my total available storage is now something 175GB more than the space already used.

What's the performance impact like, if any?

My SD card is pretty much just for music storage so not too fussed, but an interesting concept regardless.

Personally I quite like the micro SD and internal storage to work separately and so the fact that S7e does not have adoptable storage suits me just fine.

I'm using a 90MB/sec SanDisk 200GB microSD. The performance so far is indistinguishable - subjectively - from the non-merged performance.

My S7 only has 32GB internal storage and ALL the Google apps insist on being on internal storage only.....as well as their related content (Play music / video / etc..)

Many apps that deal in copyrighted material won't allow the use of an external sdcard. Plus i take a lot of photos and shoot a lot of video. 32GB just doesn't last very long. (Yes, they can go to the external SD)

All my other phones recently have been 64GB for this reason.

The chance to have a phone with over 200GB of 'internal' storage was too good to pass up.

I don't ever pull the sdcard out because I can copy the files onto my LAN at 200mbps over wifi.

Do you know what happens if the card (unfortunately) dies? Are you forced to perform a factory reset or is it worse than that?
