Hi,

I have a Galaxy S5 running Lollipop 5.0

I have a number of shortcuts on my home screen and in folders that take me to specific actions/activities in apps. Some work fine, and others lose their title and some functionality.

Example, I have shortcuts that open maps and take me straight to navigating to specific locations. The ones I added some time ago work fine, but any recent ones change their title to "Maps" and just open the app.

The other one is that I had a number of shortcuts directly to Facebook messenger conversations. It had the persons/groups name, and the associated profile photo. Now they all have the messenger logo, and just open the app.

I have restarted the phone a number of times. I have also removed the shortcuts and put them on again. They work, but soon again revert back to what I'm describing.

Any ideas anyone?

A similar thing happens when you use TASKER shortcuts on Samsung phones. After what seems to be a random amount of time the home screen Tasker shortcut icons change to a default icon. The actual shortcut still works however.

It is a well known problem and caused by (a bug??) in Samsung's TOUCHWIZ software.

I suspect you are experiencing a similar thing.

The only solution (that I know of) for Tasker users, is to use a different home screen launcher, or use a non Samsung phone.

Have a peek at https://qnalist.com/questions/5174419/tasker-shortcut-icon-names-persistently-revert-to-tasker or do a google search for "tasker shortcuts Samsung" to see if that helps you in any way.

Hi,

Thanks for that, I thought it would be an Android issue rather than a Samsung one. I have downloaded the Google launcher, and very happy with it so far. Seems a lot smoother and faster too. I havn't encountered my previous issue as yet either.
