Can anyone tell me what should occur when my phone is set to "4G recommended" ? I have a very strong 3g signal and a very weak (-130dBm) signal at home. When the phone is set to 4G, every few minutes it drops the strong 3g signal and switches to the weak 4g one, holds it for a few seconds and then reverts to the 3g one, rinse, repeat. Observed using Network Cell Info app.

My concern is will the phone drop calls during this constant switching if left on 4G? At the moment I set it to 3g at home but then I have to remember to switch to 4g when I go out.

Thanks.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

4G is only for data at the moment as far as I'm aware, so you shouldn't drop any calls.

Depending on factors such as the construction of your house, the location of the cell tower etc., you may find there is a place in your house that exhibits higher 4G reception, if you were to leave your phone in this location and it remains connected to the 4G network, your standby time well increase due to less battery drain. All voice calls will drop back to 3G anyway.

I think the phone stays on 3g or something when it has 4g, I have had mine showing emergancy calls only/network unavailable on 4G and then start to ring with incoming call and fall back to 3G with full signal.

New vodafone upgrade tho so 4G inside at home now. Not that I use it often except when it has rained and the copper is dead.
