Hi,

We're using a single google account at home and have all our devices linked to it ie, my tablet, my wife's table and the two kids (8yo & 6yo) tablets are all linked to the one account.  I'm trying to find some sort of messaging app that works well in that setup.  Using pushbullet at the moment but its just creating a stream of conversation so the kids get confused as to who is 'saying' what.  Most apps appear to work when the messaging is between google accounts.

If you haven't guessed we don't want to talk to each other in person any more.....cool

Interested to hear if anyone's using anything that might do the trick?

Thanks in advance.

The obvious answer is to create separate google accounts for each family member and use the system as it is intended.

Facebook messenger would work if you all had separate facebook accounts

Yeah trying to avoid setting up separate accounts as the kids are only 6 & 8.  If Google had a better way to link and manage Parent / Child account relationships then I'd certainly do that.  Was hoping someone had found a way to basically do 'local' messaging within a single google account.

Maybe an app like kik that isn't linked specifically to google?  You'd need as many email accounts as you wanted instances of the app, but that's easy enough

Good idea. We have a family Slack channel, works well for us.

I have just installed Messenger on my wife's J2 mobile and you don't have to have a Facebook account, I like free sealed
