Not quite sure if I can exchange this as it was ordered overseas. But, it got me thinking about all the 2nd tier re sellers worldwide and the loses that they are likely to incur.

Some of course will  try to minimize their loses like Harvey Norman from whom I purchased an official leather "Samsung" Note 7 cover 6 weeks ago. Although I could produce the bank statement for the purchase, I could not produce the receipt and original packaging so they would not entertain a refund or credit against other goods.

Oh well, such is life. As I said, it got me thinking about the 2nd tier re-sellers and then there are the 3rd tier re-sellers such as those on TradeMe. I would suspect that they would feel the pinch even more.

Tis true. A huge waste of resources all around. If there is no replacement of the same form factor, then the mind boggles to think of the immense cost to the industry and ultimately society.

Wouldn't the CGA give the end consumer some protection from 'consequential' loss?  If I spent lots of $$ of accessories that are useless now the phone is withdrawn, I would be asking Samsung for compensation.  I imagine Samsung will be in talks with the some producers and could be facing multiple claims around the world.

From the consumer website:  "The compensation for consequential loss must put you back in the position you would have been in if the goods or service hadn’t been faulty"

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I think you would be pushing it uphill with that request tbh. Depends how much value you put on your time i guess.
