The Sony XZ was launched in October.

The cases and the fast charger that Sony list on their website are STILL listed as 'Unavailable'.

This despite the fact that (a) the case is on sale in the UK and (b) the fast charger comes in the box with UK phones

Is it normal for us to get phones for which no accessories are available? It seems a pretty odd way to do it - people wanting cases or chargers will end up losing patience and buying third party items, and you'd miss out on sales surely?

In terms of accessories, i think most people seem to buy aftrmarket ones. Sonys product range in NZ seems to have dropped off a lot over recent years. I remember the days of the old Pulse magazine that I used to be sent, and I used to regularly buy sony stuff. But I haven't had one for years, and I haven't purhcased anything sony for years. I was looking for the HDD audio component, that they sell overseas, but they don't seem to sell it here, or they did but not anymore.

The Sony Australia site initially lists the quick charger UCH12W as back ordered but if you Add to Cart it says available. Over to you to try going further.

It won't let you insert New Zealand as a shipping destination...!

NZ Post Youshop? Or perhaps a Sony store, although they closed down the Wellington store recently, so you probably don't have one close by.

Youshop works only for China, USA and Europe.

The nearest Sony Store is Auckland I think. I rang them a couple of weeks ago and to be honest the person I spoke to seemed very vague and none too helpful...!

Rang them - no more helpful than Auckland. Very vague, no idea when or if stock might arrive etc etc

Which totally sums up my experiences with the Sony stores.  There is probably a good reason that the Wellington one closed down...

Yes; and the fact that they always wanted RRP so they became the go-to place to actually see the latest Sony products but not the place to actually buy them..!

Did you ever get any joy?

A friend of mine is headed to the UK at the end of January so if I can't get things here I will have him do it for me there. Just to avoid the GST of course....level playing field and all that....

Have you exhausted all Australian options? That will have the correct plug. A UK charger would double in size with the adapter.

Edit : checking a UK site found Sony UCH12 UK for £44 same site had EU version "discontinued".
Suspect something has gone wrong with product line.

Yeah, the store owner kept jacking the rent up. Probably why they could never offer anything other than RRP
