I really like the look of the soon-to-be announced LG G6.

All metal build, dual camera and no camera hump, and very miminal bezels. Looks like a major quality upgrade on the G5.

And it has a headphone jack ... and because it's a LG, will likely come with a quality DAC to boot.

Official render of LG G6 in all its bezel-less glory. I like.

This is going to be one good phone. I just hope the battery life is good!

How is the LG skin? I am always weary of the android skins that manufacturers put on.

Here's a 13 second teaser from LG on the UI ...

Looks quite heavily skinned

G6 is official as off 12am last night

Decent specs, I am liking the design. I am not too sure about the cameras though, especially the front facing one. But the actual results might be awesome

Is there a price indication or ETA?

I remember reading something last night - I think the price is going to be less than the Pixel 32GB. There were a bunch of different variants as well - some had DAC, some had FM radio. I think the DAC model is only going to be available in South Korea.

LG are w$nkers. No wireless charging outside USA, 3 year old camera sensor and a still gimped 3300mAh battery. Not to mention the Quad Hi-Fi DAC only being available to some Asian markets...

The Quad Hi-Fi DAC was my main reason for justifying an upgrade from my S7.

And the only advantage of a glass-back phone over metal is wireless charging!

So as much as I was looking forward to this phone - and it is a really nice looking piece of kit, these are probably deal breakers for me.

Arrgg ....

There is no need for that. If you don't like it, buy another brand. They obviously don't see the volumes they require from NZ.

I was annoyed recently that Asics sold out of stock of squash shoes and when I asked when they expected to get another shipment, I was told 4-6 months.

When I asked why, they responded:

ONE big shoe store will sell more squash shoes in a week than the entire NZ sales for an entire year. We don't get priority because sales are so low.

While I don't disagree with you, I don't see how LG expect to improve their struggling brand appeal when they start cutting significant user features from their flagship phones across markets.

Apple don't do it, and arguably they know something about how to make and sell a successful phone. An iphone purchased in Timaru is the same as one purchased in New York.

I don't get LG - previously they released modular phones with features nobody wanted. Now they are planning releasing phones and withholding features people want.

Well, I'd say that the v20 I own is not cut down in any way, I think it's fantastic. I think LG have licensing and other issues that prevent them from releasing global phones, but I am not sure about that.
