Thanks to some help from fellow GZ I have my hands on a 16GB Shield TV 2017 model.

So far fairly impressed. I have changed it from the Amazon FireTV which I really rate (and now have for sale if anyone is interested), because I wanted something on this TV that had Google Play Services and ability to stream from my gaming computer.

One thing that is annoying me, is watching HD content from Youtube looks really weird. Like it's frames are skipping. It's hard to describe it, but almost like a lag etc.

Anyone have a similar experience?

It's being projected onto a 106 screen by a Sony Projector. I have no issues with content on other devices.

What's new or changed or updated from previous model? I'm curious about it and seems to get quite good reviews.

pro model, think only the controller has changed, same size as previous one.

standard model is quite a bit smaller, but missing a few ports including the micro SD slot.

2017 model comes with controller and remote control. 2017 controller now has rumble. I would recommend a external SSD for storage, so much faster than MicroSD.

Both 2017 models include the game controller and remote control. Pro doesn't need expanded storage, but my 2015 16GB models are faster than the 2015 Pro with USB3 SSD's attached.

Their new X1 processor should have the grunt and native decoding to run anything from youtube so it maybe a refresh rate/frame rate issue? Try dig into the settings and see what you can find around refresh. I know that Kodi (for android) has heaps of refresh options so you could play with that to compare? It is possible that the projector may be more limited in refresh capability than TVs so you could try a TV as a control as well.
