Was thinking of getting a Lenovo P2 http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=214151  but am now thinking of a Redmi Note 4X, possibly from here http://www.einfo.co.nz/xiaomi-redmi-note-4x-32gb-gold.html   Anyone have one of these, any thoughts, believe it doesn't have band 28 - will I notice that in real life ? P8 Lite also a possibility.

I wouldnt buy from expert infotech.

Also no mention on their page of the LTE bands, and looking at aliexpress sellers it lacks band 28 so I hope you are content with 3g

Apparently the only ones that sell the 4X are Expert Infotech, Becextec and Supero. Don't know if any of them are recommendable.

3g would do, its a prezzie for a teenager and data usage is limited.

Doesn't have to be the 4X, its seems pretty good but there are others as mentioned, and maybe Moto G4 Plus.

Not quite to thread but We just had a very positive recent experience with Expert InfoTech. I have recently seen some negative feedback about them too. We ordered a product on Sunday and it was here on the following Wednesday even with Anzac day in that week. We are not in their payroll. I have purchased from them a long time ago and that was good too.

If custom ROMs are your thing then note it will have a locked bootloader, and from my own Redmi Note 3 experience this is a bit of a challenge to get around with Xiaomi's phones (though not impossible)

Do yourself a favour and buy a phone with band 28. I have bought (mine or family and friends) at least 5 phones through Expert Infotech. They have a physical store on the Northshore of Auckland. I have had no problem with any of the phones purchased through them.

Thanks - bit late now, just ordered it. On the other hand I live in Whakatane and Spark uses 1800 not 700MHz here.

FWIW, I went through the same decision process recently i.e. 4x vs P2. I fell the other way and ponied up the extra hundy on the Lenovo P2. Both are excellent phones, and outstanding value for the money. You can't go wrong with either, really.
