Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has used a USB TV tuner with their nvidia shield? I'm keen to give this a try with the impending death of Tivo but am unsure what tuner I need to buy.
Thanks in advance.

I've not used a USB tuner, but was using a HDHomerun through Kodi for a while. I was running NextPVR on a separate machine to do the recording side of things until the machine went kaput and I just haven't bothered to set it back up again.
Shield TV Update 5.2 is adding USB tuner support. It should be released soon.
If you want you could get a USB tuner, Shield Pro, Plex Pass, USB HDD and watch/record via Plex and Plex Media Server on the Shield. You can even stream it to devices when you are out and about if you wanted. Note the Plex TV Guide is an acquired taste with no timeline.
If you have a server/PC that is capable of storing recordings or running Plex Server then use that for storage as 5.2 update will allow writing to NAS.
Home Server: AMD Threadripper 1950X, 64GB, 56TB HDD, Define R6 Case, 10GbE, ESXi 6.7, UNRAID, NextPVR, Emby Server, Plex Server.
Lounge Media Center: NVIDIA Shield TV 16GB: Kodi18 with Titan MOD, Emby.
Kids Media Center: NVIDIA Shield TV 16GB: Kodi18 with Titan MOD, Emby.
Main PC: Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB RAM, RX 570, 2 x 24"

Yeah I saw that. I'll be getting one of the recommended tuners. I have a synology so this solution should be perfect :-)
The Plex server on the shield works fine for me pulling media from my NAS.
I ended up ordering an HD Homerun as it's device independent. Will see how it goes.
