I am probably the only one here who has one of these phones, but since getting one on Friday I have a few issues that I want to see if anyone has struck them and knows workarounds

(Note coming from an Nexus 5X running stock Android 7.1.2 so some of the issues may be related to Huawei 'skinning' and different Android version)

Set up a pattern and then tried to setup up a fingerprint - got told I had to use a password or pin if I wanted to use the fingerprint (pattern was ok on the Nexus 5X)

Specs advertise WiFi 5GHz n/ac compatibility, and although my router supports 5GHz n/ac, the phone only sees the 2.4Ghz frequency

Unable to customise data usage date range - my months starts on 25th, but the phone only does the actual month

Probably some more to come as I find them ..

you need to pin for the finger print to authorise the phone after its been powered off. its the only way to unlock the phone.

what are you using to see the wifi frequencies?

and yea the month thing is annoying, its the same on the mate9 so i use an app for tracking data

On the Nexus 5X, the pattern did this

The phone, I have 2.4G and 5G advertised and the phone only sees 2.4G

New issue; phone should support 2 SIM cards and instructions say to go into Settings -> Dual SIM Management

Put another SIM card into the device and can't find the option in the settings

on mine its right up the top, under air plane mode.

but there is a search box on the setting menu you can use to find things.

try using a wifi analiser tool and see if you can see it then, apart from that i cant be much more help.

as for the patten thing? is it a big deal if your going to be using the finger print sensor most of the time?

Dual SIM option definitely not there, search doesn't find anything either.

Not being able to use a pattern means I have to come up with a PIN that isn't a PIN I already use .. patterns easy to remember, PIN not quite - don't want to lock myself out of the phone

different manufactures have different requirements for different things like pin or pattern with the fingerprint, im guessing this is one of them. i'm not sure but changing the launcher may fix it.

did you actually get the dual sim model? as both have the dual sim/single micro SD card trays. check the model number in settings > about phone

I wonder if its a problem with the SIM card or how they have been inserted have you tried swapping them around to confirm the non working SIM card is detected.

The SIMs only fit in one way

According to the official specs

WAS-LX2
Main SIM card:
FDD LTE: Band 1/3/5/7/8/28
TDD LTE: Band 40
UMTS (WCDMA) / HSPA+ / DC-HSDPA: Band 1/5/8
GSM / EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Secondary SIM card:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

However have found out why I can't see 5G WiFi; again from the specs

802.11 b/g/n 2.4G
802.11 ac/a/b/g/n, 2.4G / 5G (WEU, Japan, Korea)

So, grr

Note that if either of your SIM cards are for Spark or Skinny, they will only work in SIM slot 1, as they don't have a GSM network.

Otherwise, as above, check the model within the Settings menu to ensure you have a dual SIM variant.

I have a WAS-LX2 model; nothing I can find online is telling me if there are multiple models of the model.

Guessing that since I do not have the setting in Settings to configure Dual SIM, there are multiple models ...

Using Vodafone and 2Degrees to test (2Degrees being the primary network)

Three more annoyances found last night; I set up a PIN so I could use my fingerprint

Lock Screen background pattern keeps on changing on me and I can't find a way to lock to to the one included image I like

I get this message from Phone Manager after the screen is locked telling me how much data I have used while the phone is locked. I have turned off all the tick boxes as I don't want to be notified but it still appears.

An app called Huawei Mobile Services keeps on asking for permission to my Telephone, I keep on saying no and it keeps on asking.

I have never wanted to unlock the bootloader, root and load a new ROM as quickly as I do with this phone, however rooting the device will cause Pokemon Go to fail since it checks for these things on startup.

Drag up from the lock screen > the top row of information is related to the lock screen picture.
Play to rotate pictures

settings > Mobile data > gear icon > lock screen usage reminder

Settings > Apps > Huawei Mobile Services > check the permissions or disable it and see what it does. i have it enabled for my phone but thats it.

you are using a new phone with a slightly different OS to what you have used before, it will take a few days/weeks to get everything to how you ike it, but just rememebr you cant expect it to be your old phone.

See above

Thank you - I had managed to figure out the lock screen images (deleted all but one image) and the Huawei Mobile Services (disabled the app), but hadn't figured out lock screen data usage.

It has now been turned off.
