I loaded Skype for the first time in a while on my Samsung Galaxy A3 this afternoon. I didn't realise it had updated a few days ago. What a pile of rubbish! Nothing is easy to find, and it didn't remember my previous logins either, nor did it find my contacts when I could finally sign in. I tried to load my old (Skype-only) contacts and it just imported them all from my phone - which I don't want. Chat history is gone too. I don't want all this stupid Snapchat-like crap - I just want a nice, clean interface that works. This doesn't work for me in any way, shape or form.

What genius at Microsoft decided this was a great idea that everyone would embrace, outside their little group? I tried to load Skype for Business instead but that wouldn't let me login.

Anyone know of any way to get the old Skype interface (and contacts/messages etc) back, or in their wisdom have they decided to delete that forever too? I just signed into Skype on my PC and that seems, well, normal.

My suggestion is move on. Skype used to work when it was a peer to peer service. Now that Microsoft own it and have put their stamp on it, they will infuriate users for time to come.

WhatsApp is one alternative, Viber is better in that you can have multiple instances for one user (mobile/tablet/pc)

I looked at Whatsapp too (I have it already). Might be a good option...

Don't really use Viber but I have that as well.

I wonder what this makeover is doing to Skype's user base?

Found a way around it - I uninstalled the update and set it to never auto-update (had to do the same thing for the Vodafone app).

If this is the way forward Microsoft wants to take Skype, they can have it - I'm not interested in the new rendition of it.

I do miss Face Time from my iPhone, I must say.
