Have a phone running Android 6, and all seems well except owner cannot send pictures attached to a TXT, recipient just gets blank TXT message.

I have checked App Permissions etc to ensure that all appropriate programs can access and process photos etc.

My old Nokia sent pics as SMS no problem at all, but this new one has me stumped right now undecided

Any thoughts most welcome.

I think it means that the APN settings will not be set up correctly - ie your phone doesnt know how to transmit the attached images.

Check the telco and APN settings - most telcos have a page with details if required.

What telco?

If the handset says ' Message Sent ' then it's no way it's a APN setting issue on the sending handset

What happens if the person sends the MMS / PXT to there own mobile number from there mobile number?

Hi John … I just used the Voda automated MMS set up, and tried again.

The picture comes up on screen (using Message+), and the four dots at bottom-right of picture are still 'moving/blinking'.

I read (albeit an American telco site) that one must be connected to the internet for pics to be attached to a TXT, but that was never the case previously.

If handset advises Message Sent then the MMSC has done it's job and as advised it's not a APN setting

If APN settings are incorrect then the MMS would fail to send

I don't think the Message has been sent … no confirmation or green tick.

May not be the issue but I know that the file extension can make a difference sometimes on the web. For example .jpg will be accepted but .jpeg will not.

You advised something does turn up on the handset you are sending the message to so something must be sending

That's what I was told … blank TXT.

Just noticed that when preparing to send PXT/TXT/SMS it says (in green) "SMS only" … sort of suggests something is turned off?

Vodafone Smart mini 7 …. used same model to send picture to problem one, and Message received is a little blue square with a white down arrow, MMS, and 41kb in it.

Nothing happens when tapping, swipping etc, viz. cannot view picture.

Unless it's a handset sourced from Vodafone (which means it automatically configure itself when you insert the SIM) I had better results manually entering the MMS APN settings.

Further information gleaned:  Two handsets purchased, one used the SIM card that came with phone …. that is the one that appears to be able to send TXT/PXT/MMS.

The other phone had its SIM card swapped out for a new one from Voda so that its older number (Telstra-Clear) could be ported … this is the problem phone now.

I wonder if the old number/account is somehow preventing the PXT/MMS operation?

Have you tried to manually change the MMS configuration to the Vodafone one or not?
