Hi guys have an annoying issue since the Oreo update whereby I am dropping some calls but just when I am at home. I show 2 bars on phone and it doesn't seem to fluctuate at all.

I am on the Spark network

I updated to Oreo from Sammobile, knox is still intact.

Build date Mon, 19 Feb 2018 14:32:41 +0000 Security Patch Level 2018-02-01 Product code TNZ PDA G950FXXU1CRB7 CSC G950FTNZ1CRAN

Baseband is :G950FXXU1CRAP

I have a 2 Degree's sim in my Tablet and its fine so isn't my location and prior to update never had issues.

Reading up there are similar issues for S8 in Oz with Telstra which have had Oreo re-installed but no success. I have cleared cache done 2 full resets but still no joy.

Has anyone else experienced this as I don't really want to go through all the hassle of taking phone in and they find nothing.

Any help appreciated.

I doubt it's related to the Oreo update provide Spark with some example calls and get them to investigate on the Spark side for release codes related to the dropped calls

Gather about 5 examples of dropped calls when in that location

CRAP?
Seriously, its probably worth downloading and trying out a signal strength app. I understand the 'bars' can be a very unreliable indicator at times. "Network cell info lite" gives quite a bit of info.

Don't need an App type on *#0011# and you see the true signal

Hi JeffNZ,

I've been having the same issue with my S8 on Spark - in past months frequently dropping calls when working from home but not at other locations.

Wife's S5 mini on Spark has no problems.

Suspect 4G issue as when mobile network set to 3G/2G no problems.

Updated to Android 8.0.0 yesterday and yet to determine if this resolves matters.

Signal strength is good as in Wellington Parliament area.

Spark dealer offered no help yesterday - take phone back to seller - might be broken antennae ...(?)

Will follow John(Linux)'s wise advice and keep detailed log of any dropped calls for investigation of release codes.

Fingers crossed!

Stuker.

Perhaps related to some other users complaining about their imported handsets not working well on Spark?

NikT saw this happening on a few different models from different OEMs.

In my case it is an NZ new S8 purchased outright from Noel Leeming in Boxing Day sales.

- Spark confirmed it would be fully compliant with their network prior to purchase.

Cheers, S.

Sure, but didn't you say you updated from a third party site?

[EDIT] Ooops, sorry, that was the OP.

No worries - and all and any input welcome cool!

In my case the S8 has only ever been updated via official updates as and when available.

The other forum you linked to may have some clues though, as once again this is a Spark Wellington CBD, specifically Pipitea, issue - phone works fine elsewhere.

Cheers, S.

@restecp Is this update needed for all New Zealand carriers or just SparkNZ?
