Ive now been thru 2 cheapie adapters with a USB C plug for the phone and a USB C socket and 3.5mm socket on them so I can use the phone in the car for audio and charge it.

Both seem to limit the charge current to 500mA, plugged straight into my mi mix 2 I get 1.75A from the same charger (I have a USB C cable with a voltage/current display on it like an inbuilt charger doctor)

Anyone had any luck finding one that does full current? Arriving with the phone with less battery than I left with is getting annoying, so much its driven me back to using bluetooth with the resulting terrible audio that my cars stereo has for that.

I use a Moshi braided (15cm) cable that includes micro-usb/usb-c/lightning plugs ... that charges my Galaxy at around 1A ... bought it from JB IIRC

Its not the cable, its the adapter that lets me get audio out of the phone that seems to be limiting the phones charge speed. Ive tried many cables on it and its slow. I cant see the current with a usb c to c cable and my fancy car charger, but it certainly isnt making any decent difference to the phone level with a half hour drive with screen on and playing audio when using that and the adapter, whereas using bluetooth and a direct into the phones USB port without the adapter I will get 30-40% into the phone over the same length drive.
