I am looking for a new phone and as I have always used Google phones in past but now cannot afford the new lines are looking for a decent phone that is near as vanilla Android as I can get. it seems that it means either Nokia or Motorola.

 

Have been looking at the Nokia 6.1 or 7+ anyone got any suggestions as to the best buy?

 

 




Nokia 7 Plus
Nexus 6P 32Gb
Nexus 6 Phone
Nexus 5 Phone
Nexus 7 2013 Tablet
Samsung TAB A 8"
Samsung TAB A 10"

 

& many Windows laptops, Desktops etc

Have a look at the Nokia 8 as well, they're pretty cheap now. ~$500-600..

prefer the bigger phones I am used to Nexus 6p so something roughly the same size

Don't let this fool you. It is essentially vanilla Android and OxygenOS is actually incredibly good adding subtle improvements on top of Android like dark mode for example - else it doesn't add much. They get updates incredibly quick and performance is excellent. I'd consider it to be one of the best Android phones and roms on the market. Also has dash charging which is faster than most phones.

If anything the OnePlus line is very easy to flash custom roms ie. LineageOS. It's otherwise a neat phone but I wouldn't trust OxygenOS.

 

 

Unless you go for the Pixel line there isn't really much choice for pure android. I'd pick a Nokia 7+ or otherwise wait for the new nokia 8 plus or whatever is coming out next.

I think the Motorola line are vanilla Android and the Nokia 7 also looks like stock as well
