The Mate X looks like a pretty amazing device. It makes Samsungs design look a little clunky. Early days yet though.

Yes, I agree.
Not so keen on the tablet screen being on the outside though. A little too prone to damage while being carted around in phone mode.
Eye watering price as well.

I think this looks better than the Fold but the Fold is more practical (screen inside > screen outside) so if Samsung could improve the outside screen then I think it'd be great

Yikes at US$2,600 (NZ$3,785)😱 wow that is eye watering 😭 I could buy two standard sized iPhone X 📱 (NZ$1,899 ea) and join them together with sellotape  and still have a better and more secure long term product.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Looks nicer with it's slimmer bezels, but screen is bubbled/wrinkled when folded out.

As someone who is not at all an Android fan/user, this looks incredible (and yes, makes the Galaxy Fold look old already!). Just a shame that it's made by Huawei (for obvious reasons).

I'm impressed that the front (when folded up) is such a large screen, compared to the Galaxy Fold which looks like it has a small inset screen when folded up.

Straightforward question. What the obvious reasons?

That 5G chip  has a bit of a premium on it at this stage in the market.

as does foldable screens, so It's no real surprise about the cost.

I'd be keen to have a play, but think i've been kinda put off huawei devices for a day to day driver given their support.

I have had 2 Huawei phones and are seriously tempted. And sorry but Facebook (already proven to have taken and sold our data), the USA as a whole let alone Google who already know more about me than my Mum. I am not gonna spend my days worrying about China. I have had 3 updates this year including getting Android 9 on my older model. No update issues here.

Mainly the fact that the folding screen tech was stolen from Samsung.

There are enough geeks floating around these days poking their noses into Huawei phones that it would be silly of Huawei to put a back door into a phone. @Quinny is right. There are enough commercial companies leaking and giving away our data that China doesn't need a back door.

Who are these people who pay $2k for a phone? That is some serious cheddar for a handheld device.

Are folding phone the next big thing? Looks too big to fit in your pocket, too small for tablet type duties.

Don't ask me, i thought 3D TVs'were the next big thing.
