I am moving from custom hardware for my digital dash project to just using a phone and a great bit of software called Realdash. I can still send all the data I need via a serial stream and define everything, and the cheapest simplest way to get a really bright screen in a small form factor is just to use a phone.
I have only had Galaxy Notes since the Note4 days, so I know nothing about what's available...
Requirements:
- Not cost a lot, it's going to be a dedicated digital dashboard
- Stupid, obnoxiously bright display. the brighter the better, should be readable in direct sunlight.
- Bigger screen is better (up to 7" which is I guess getting into tablet size), resolution unimportant if 720P or better
- Wireless charging is a nice to have - I can make build a wireless charger into the mount which would be helpful
Happy to buy secondhand, happy if the case is badly scratched, even if there are minor cracks. I just don't know anything about other phones at the moment :-)
Most important thing is brightness - if I can't read it while driving, it's not useful.
Recommendations happily accepted.
Cheers - N
