. . .

hey all,

was looking up what offline FM apps are available for android, and could only find this locked (and unresolved) thread as most recent:

https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=207924&page_no=2

Solution I found, on Android LG G3 at least:

Settings > About > Update Center > App Updates >

Even if you've deleted the radio app, it will still appear there as an official LG app to be downloaded and updated.

Yes, checked that wifi and mobile was off!

Be interesting to hear experience from other brands / models / makes

. . .

This would be dependent on whether your phone actually has an FM radio receiver installed. If it doesn't, then there is nothing that any app would be able to do.

If your phone does contain an FM reciever, try plugging in some headphones. As often the wires in your headphone cable are used as the FM aerial.

my Xiaomi A2 lite has built in fm receiver but I cannot imagine a time when I would ever use it. Radio in NZ is so awful (aside from maybe RNZ) that I have exclusively been using online steams and podcasts for years now. Don't even have any stations tuned in my car. Just plug in either my phone or a usb stick with content.

As above, if it actually has an FM radio chip, the phone manufacturer will have included an FM radio app that works with it.

Otherwise, you are stuck with streaming.

Yes, as above.

Previously the proud owner of a Windows 8 phone, one among dozens.
On Android, wasted a lot of time in the app store before your advice finally sunk in.
Just adding a step-by-step for others who might be similarly challenged, e.g coming from Apple.

Be gentle with me, also learning Linux thingmajigs !

thanks ay
