I've been keeping an eye on this phone ahead of launch and at the moment it doesn't look like PBtech is bringing it in officially. A couple of the usual importers are showing stock.

Has anyone tried one out and how does it perform?

That is mint - QC 3.0, Type-C, 3.5mm jack & band 28. The previous phones were great value too, but there were some compromises. With this, not so much.

I've heard that there might be a Mi A3 Pro on the way.

Better tell your team. Just had an email saying you have no plans to stock it.

Mi A3 is absolute disappointment.

- 750p display
- no NFC
- no wireless charge

Mi A3 Pro is high possibility. Xiaomi M1904F3BG was certified couple days ago in Russia, and it's CC9 as per specs. So I'd wait.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for a Pro model this year. You might want to check out the Motorola One Vision to tick the NFC and 1080p boxes.

I would have bought one if the screen resolution was Full HD. What an epic fail. They went with an AMOLED display so they could add an in-screen fingerprint reader, but these are more expensive than LCD screens, so they dropped the resolution.

the price hike from the A2 has me saying no.   My wife has the A1 and loves it, i need to replace my samsung note 5, and was about to buy a A2, then the A3 came out, but its nearly twice the price.  so now I'm looking for alternatives.  A2 is winning ATM.

the A series was such a great series, being really cheap and pretty good phones..  I wish they made a cheaper A3 and branded this as a different phone.

My son has a A1 which has been great.  Good battery life, fast enough etc etc.  I have a price watch on the A2 on Amazon and it's dropped to about $160usd which makes it good buying.  The band 28 support on the A3 makes it really tempting but the drop in screen res and the easy to break glass back puts me off a bit.  Also this is my son's phone, it still works and given the decent battery life the battery is not dead yet so then I remind myself I should resist the temptation to buy something I don't need and spend the money on boring things like petrol and groceries.  It's a real shame the A2 didn't get band 28.

The Mi A3 Lite will be released on Aug 30 - sure to be a little cheaper than the A3
Daughter has an A2 and I have an A2 lite. TBH I like the A2 lite better than the A2.

Mostly because of its size - it just feels more comfortable in my hand. Also, the bezels seem kinda large to me after getting used to the notch on the lite.
Having said that - The A2 is a fantastic phone (and my daughter likes it better than the lite variant)
