Hi there

Has anyone else got google routines working in NZ? I am pretty keen on setting up a radio alarm with google home setup and I think this is the missing piece (but is available in other countries)

FWIW I am using all google products, google home, android phones etc

Any help would be appreciated

Yep, routines work fine in NZ. It can sometimes take a bit of experimenting to get them working every time, eg I’ve found adding a small delay between some instructions for light routines has been necessary.

Just open the Google Home app on your phone, click routines at the top, click manage routines at the bottom, and then either click ‘add a routine’ or select an existing one to edit.

The next stages are relatively self-explanatory, but if you get stuck I’m sure there are good instructions online. One thing is ‘browse popular actions’, under the add action section, has useful shortcuts, rather than needing to write out the instruction. In your case, however, I imagine you can simply type the radio station’s name in the “add media’ field (using the ‘radio’ option).

If you want to have custom routines, your iOS device needs to be set to Aus or us.  They made a change requiring this sometime last year and it took me till last week to work out how to make it work again (thanks to a GZ thread).  In the meantime I had largely migrated to Alexa (I hate that you can’t change the trigger words from ok google)

Thanks for the reply both.

@Jonathan18 the problem is I just dont have the routines option - I'll try and send a screenshot. Are you an android user?

@Stocksp do you have a link to the thread? I'll see if I can use it for android. I was also thinking about going to alexia but I already use google devices heavily and want to keep things in the same echo system if possible

@csuttonnzl - I imagine your issue is caused by exactly that raised above - language setting. I found the same problem early on and, yes, I'm primarily an Android user (phones anyway; occasionally use GH on my iPad), ie many menu options were simply not available. Changing the phone's language fixed this immediately.
