I received an update to my OPPO overnight and now it appears to have some VOIP icon in the top r/h corner?

This has showed up post an OS update (the icon on the right.) Appears to be suggesting VOIP calls possible but I don't know where it has come from, or what s.w. it will use when it decides to arbitrarily do a VOIP call...

And whether it is encrypted or not?

Possibly either VoLTE or VoWiFi (if you are on 2D)?

Hi mrgsm021,

Yes, I am with 2D, and it appears to be related to that SIM (I am running dual SIM). Thanks for that, is that a new thing?

More info about 2d WiFi calling here. It's not new, but may be a new addition to your handset (It's the AX5 for the curious).

You should be able to turn it off in settings if so desired.
