Hi all. I have a Galaxy S10e (SM-G970U) Great phone, probably the best phone I've had.

For some reason I'm not getting the automatic Android 10 update that the rest of my family got on their phones over the last few weeks (S9+ and S20 Ultra).

I bought mine online and it was likely parallel imported so I suspect that might be the issue. When I check for updated I just get the 'Your software is up to date' message.

Does anyone know of a way to force it to update to Android 10, or will I have to install it manually?

Thanks

You need to check out the CSC code on the handset and this will show which carrier the handset was sold for, If I was you just wait for the official update

You could check out Sammobile and read about doing updates via Odin

Ok thank you, I discovered the code is for a USA version.

https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s10e/firmware/SM-G970U/USC/download/G970USQS2BSI4/292963/

So I guess that's why there has been no auto-download, I would need to be in the USA for that to happen.

I'm only interested in the official version but I'm assuming I'll have to manually install it via Odin regardless.

No Android 10 is not released for that csc code not related to SIM card in the handset or location you are

Oh right, ok well that's annoying. Since it came out for everyone else 6+ months ago I'm assuming it's never coming. Had this issue with my parallel imported S3 as well.

Stop buying parallel imported handsets then

I think I'll continue to save the $500 and live with the manually-downloaded updates but thanks for the advice.

The lowest this phone went to was $649 or $699 from memory at Noel and PB last year which is for an official NZ phone. So unless you bought it for $149 or $199 NZD shipped to NZ not sure how you saved $500. But good for you if you did

Got it last year for $600 delivered through 1day using a subscriber additional discount voucher. At the time it was $1200 at most other retailers. Saw it at $750 once at Noel's but it sold out almost immediately. Even now it's $1050 on special at Noel's which is crazy given it's the lite version of an old phone now.

Great phone, would recommend it to anyone wanting a slightly smaller phone but without a bit reduction in specs.

Anyway I was hoping to find out if I could have my cake and eat it too with regards to updates and now I have an answer, thanks.

How is the s10e's battery? Spark has the s10e for $850 but I am tempted by the s10+ for the bigger battery.
I was hoping for sales in level 2 but they havent been happening.

Have been wanting to upgrade for awhile now from my s7.

Pleased with mine so far, bought from spark on that price just before lockdown. Getting around 36 hours mixed use between charges, and that’s charging only to 75% most times. I wasn’t keen on the extra size and price of the 10 or 10+. Only dislike so far is that the factory installed screen protector is scratch susceptible, and the phone didn’t like the glass protector I tried.

Agree with the above post. I'm pleased with the battery life, I would compare it to my old S8 but say that it's a bit better overall. And 24-36 hours on mixed use sounds about right too. I tried a tempered glass screen protector but it didn't last and seemed to reduce responsiveness quite a lot so now I just have a case with flip-cover on it.

You could also look to flash the NZ version (will wipe everything on the phone) assuming the model is exactly the same...

Thanks you I was wondering if that was possible, might look into that if it’s the only option.

Finally decided to pull the trigger on the s10e.

2 degrees has the phone for buy outright at $799. I am with Spark prepaid because I need spotify to live and their prepaid is the best fit for me. Figured I would try and give spark a sale, they currently have their s10e at $850. I had the audacity to ask would price match 2 degrees and was all but laughed at. Was a bit surprised, I van understands not matching parallel importers but refusing to match main service providers blew me away.

So 2 degrees got my money in the end.
