ANy assistance appreciated.

Everything works - but it won't give me any sound when receiving text messages.

See 3rd post - i think it's the message app. How do i reinstall the stock message app?

I will list (and keep updated) things that I've tried (check the list in case I've updated)

- restart phone 3 times

- turn off and on sound

- turn up volume

- change the notification sounds a few times

- installed new update just now and - no change

Curious. When you changed the notification sound, was it from within the text message app, or under 'Sounds and vibration' in the main settings?

did both

normally when you touch a different sound it will play the sound

but it didn't play any sound when i choose different sounds

hmm that means it's the messages app itself

Not sure if you can. You could try installing a 3rd party messaging app, even the Google app. See if notifications work with that once you set it as the default messaging app, and if so try changing default back to the Samsung messaging app.

Don't suppose this is as a result of whatever caused the broken screen you mention in the other thread? Does the phone ring when called?

Stupid question.

If you adjust the volume (button on the side) then pull down the volume tab so it shows volume levels for Media, Ringtone, Notifications & System, are they all set to non zero amounts?

I'm feeling stupid and happy at the same time. Yes that's it. Thanks.
