Wife needs a new phone to replace her old 5yr old Galaxy G6 so I'm looking at what's out there, I've always been an iPhone user so arent up with Samsung as much.

I see the options appear to be:

- S20 Series (FE maybe)

- A Series

- Someone recommended to look at Oppo

For what she uses it for the S20's are probably too expensive but can go there if needed, she mainly uses it for some Facebook, taking photos, and as a diary. Looking at buying the phone out right also.

Recommendations?

Thanks

as diary i'd consider a note 20 base model, sometimes it can be the same price as s20FE but the note is a watered down phone so it's not over kill for your wife

downside - size for some, size is a plus for some.

i bought a A30 as a spare and it is soooo slow. press something, go make coffee then something happens.

otoh i have always had S models and they are pretty good

I have been told the A31 is a reasonable device.

Sorry when I said using the device as a diary, was more just basic calendar appointments rather than business planning etc

Not sure what the budget is but have a look at the Samsung M51 as that is what I am considering upgrading to myself mainly for the battery life.

If the A31 is anything like the A30, I'd stay away. It's soo sloooow and unresponsive. They must have put the slowest GPU CPU RAM SSD touch screen that they can find and put them in.

Spend a few dollars more and get at least a midrange number like a 50, 60, 70 or just get an S/note - you'll know the boxing day prices in a couple of days.

I have not owned the 50s - 70s, not sure if they are any good.

The FE is a great phone for the price. 3 years of android updates. Also has a flagship soc and camera so will last a good while. Can't recommend them for in that price range.
