Has anyone else had problems trying to play Disney+ content with the app on an OPPO smartphone?

The app on daughter's device is getting Error 39 when trying to play anything - on my Huawei P30 Pro, same network, it plays just fine.

I suspect it's DRM-related... Any other insight?

its possible that the device hasn't paid for the widevine licences.

Yes, thought that. Any way to test?

the easiest way to test is to try on other HD content, from Amazon or Netflix

Thanks for the suggestion - just tested with Netflix and it plays fine. Just Disney+ not working with the Error 39 message.

This page explains a similar issue and points to an app to enable the required support level:

Maybe this will provide some status info.

This page links to a widevine status level app:

Edit: maybe not. There's a couple of apps called DRM Info or similar.
