Hi all,

After reading many reviews I'm not sure whether or not it will be a good idea to buy the T-Mobile G1. I have been looking at many ebay auctions but just don't know whether I should jump ship as the reviews dont seem to be all that great...

Ideas?

Chris

Personally, no. The phone it self is not so appealing. I may consider future releases.

I feel the same way. While I only want a phone with a physical keyboard the design just doesnt leap out and say "look at me"

Anyone know of other devices that android will be running on?

Doubt it Google won't be spending time on it if it is not going to carry on with it.

Like the others say I'd steer clear for now. Like the iPhone 2G this is a sophomore effort and its just not quite there yet. There may be some Android phones worth buying another year or so, but this ain't one of 'em.

I've had a good play round with the G1 and it's not a bad phone.  The touchscreen UI is not as cute as the iPhone's but leagues ahead of Nokia's first touchscreen effort.  Overall I'd say it's worth a tilt if you're interested in something different although I'd wait until it (or one of the other Android devices that has been announced) either arrive in NZ or are available without subscription to an operator elsewhere.

Honestly I would prefer the iPhone. Google Android has a lot of power but I don't think they have harnessed it to its full potential. Remember first generation releases are bound to have some problems

why G1, why not iPhone? I think you should wait till few more companies put Android into test.
