Fed up with my Nokia 6.1 Plus. Has had charging issues and I've replaced the charging port a few times. Now it will not connect consistently to the network (Vodafone). I have done a sim swap.

So time for a new phone.

I like Android One, no bloat ware. That is not a deal breaker though. I don't want to spend more than $500 and would prefer to buy from an NZ based business.

New mobile phone ideas please. Thank you.

I use my phone for sms and calls. Watching downloaded TV programmes/movies. Android Auto, social media, Microsoft 365 etc. No gaming.

I know nothing :-)

Never bought anything from The Market. Do they abide by NZ customer guarantees? I bought from BuyMobile last time. Cost a fortune to send it back to Australia when it stopped charging.

Why not get the latest Nokia 3.4

It has VoLTE that works on vodafone and the newer USB-C - plus they are $299. I found my 6.1 was also a bit dodgy!

Yes they do but note they are purely online and kind of the middle man in this transaction, in this case you would deal with Mobileciti which is Australian. https://www.mobileciti.com.au/ so personally I would look elsewhere.

It's going to be hard to go past a Samsung a51 in that price bracket. They aren't android one but for a well matched, well supported device they are fairly hard to beat.

If you can get to $579 the a52 is the newer model so will get an extra year of support.

On my recommendation my MIL bought an A51 to replace a Nokia 7+ and is happy with it; midrange Samsungs of 2021 are no longer the bloatware-filled slow machines of yesteryear…

Hmm. Didn't realise that one was sold by a 3rd party sorry. NZ sold Samsung seems like a better bet.

It's one of the top selling phones in the world for good reason.

The A series is arguably a more compelling offering than the S series. You get most of the essential stuff without a lot of the gimmickry that samsung often includes. Good solid, simple phones at a very good price. Being common in the NZ market also means that accessories and service is readily available.
