Good morning,

Can i please get some help in upgrading my Samsung A7(2017) phone. No longer receiving any updates so thought it's time for an upgrade. I have my eyes on a few phones but would appreciate anyone's thoughts and/or recommendations.

My budget: $1000.

My current use: no gaming at all, posting food & drone pics to Instagram, reddit, DJI app, messaging, email, very little YouTube, various apps etc.

My wish list: great camera would be my #1, a few years of updates, I like the big screens, as much ram and processing power my budget can get.

S21 series is out of price range. I haven't included anything from OnePlus, Oppo, Huawei or Xiaomi simply because i don't much about them. Some nice looking phones with some impressive specs. Thought about going Apple/iPhone but not sure on that one, definitely wouldn't rule it out.

Is there anything else worth considering?

Much appreciated for any help.

Possibility of S21 5G getting very close to your budget next weekend in Queen's Birthday sales. Your listed options could also be reduced in price. Might be worth holding off a few days.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Yes definitely waiting for next weekend, doing a bit of research before then.

With the S21, based on reviews, i had concerns on the exynos chip. Not sure if it was worth worrying about.

Wife's never had trouble with hers. You said you don't game with your phone, so it shouldn't be an issue. Otherwise, the S20 FE Snapdragon is quite well priced.

Cool, thanks for your help. Na, bit of social media and the like. Keen as mustard to see what prices are like this coming weekend.

Sure enough, Noel Leeming have it reduced to $1099, JB Hifi $999.

S20FE for $779(NL) and $799(JBHifi).

I have just been through this.

I chose the S20FE Snapdragon, picked one up last weekend for $779 at PBtech.

For the price it seems to be the best out there, the snapdragon is also regarded as a bit better than the exynos which was still priced at $1099 (before sale at PB).

Excellent.

Can I please ask how do you find the new phone?

Living up to expectations?

Is the camera as good as they say?

When looking were you comparing to the same phones as above?

Any feedback much appreciated.

In support of this, a Note would be a very decent upgrade over the other options you are considering in the same price range.

That is, assuming you are happy with the size and or may benefit from a Garaged S-pen (Which I don't use a lot but wouldn't be happy to live without).

It's the Exynos ones that have the overheat issues.  Snapdragon generally fine.

As above, the overheating is generally the exynos cpu
