For my next handset (another Samsung) I'm thinking at the same time I'll upgrade my SD card from 64GB to 128GB. PB Tech have a good deal on the latter at the moment:

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MEMSAM11031/Samsung-EVO-PLUS-128GB-Micro-SDXC-with-Adapter-up

My query is, how do I move all the data from one to the other so it all lines up (eg, the gallery loads all the images as it does with the current phone)? Wirelessly? Via the cloud? A former colleague described the adapters for SD cards as "dodgy", so I've never really looked at them - or are they all good to use? Is an XC card good/better/an improvement, or should I just stick with a regular SD card?

Thanks in advance :)

SD card adapters work fine.  I use a Digitech USB-C one that comes with a USB 3 adapter.  I got it from Jaycar.  It just plugs into any computer and you can read and write the SD card.  So you just copy all the data off the old card to the PC, eject that card, put in the new card and copy all the data onto the new card.

On the new phone, you may need to tell the apps where to look on the SD card to find their data.  Usually, they will then be happy and have the same as you had before.

Thanks for that. Is there any advantage over an XC card as opposed to a, well, non-XC?

From Samsung referring to their phones
"While you can use any class of microSD cards in your phone or tablet, the microSDXC card is recommended for high-resolution video recording, due to its large storage capacity and high-speed read/write capability. For less demanding use, such as still photography, regular microSD or microSDHC cards will be sufficient."

Your previous memory was almost certainly microSD or microSDHC.

Thanks for that, is an SDXC backwards compatible with SDHC? If my new phone only supports HC, will an XC card work in there? Or should I look at something else.

Edit: just found it isn't - so I'll make sure it has SDXC compatibility.
