I need an Australian mobile number for my Aussie bank to contact me for transaction purposes.
To get this mobile number could I maybe get an Australian prepaid SIM card sent to me that I could use in my dual SIM phone - would this work or anyone got any other ideas on getting an Aussie number I could use here?

Thanks for any replies.

Do you have an E-sim on your phone? That way you can go online an get a sim. I know Optus do an e-sim.

There's also these guys which enable you to have an e-sim on any device. https://esim.me

That should work - I do this with a UK SIM for UK banking etc, either in a dual SIM phone or just use an old phone

I'm not sure whether an Aus telco will provide you a physical or e-SIM outside of Aus, but there are loads of them on ebay and trademe

A lot of prepay accounts will continue to work, so long as you top up by a minimum amount every so often. You should be able to do that to keep an Aussie number alive in NZ

I moved my NZ number to Vodafone prepay before moving overseas. So long as I top up $20 a year, it should stay alive until I'm back in NZ. I still get my ASB NetCode messages on that number.
