Hi, I am wanting to buy a Galaxy Watch 4, and I see that Mighty Ape has parallel imports for considerably cheaper than say PB Tech, JB Hifi etc.
What are the downfalls of a parallel import? Mighty Ape have said that it may initially boot in a different language, but that it is an easy fix.

Don’t know the answer to your question but the 44mm is currently on special at Noel Leeming at the moment:

I was shocked to read a while back as to how piss-poor the battery life is on the current gen of Galaxy watches - is it still that bad? (Say, a max two days with normal use.) Or can it be made more acceptable switching some of the sensors off?

Not sure whether the Parallel imports have decent warranty cover or not - sometimes support can be the issue.

Not cheap at NL on sale either: Not sure what price you're looking at with the Parallel import?

If you aren't in a rush Watch 5 is just around the corner - due for reveal early Aug and release late Aug. It apparently has possibly double the battery capacity among other upgraded features.

I wonder if the Classic 46mm (which is what I am after) is any better?

The 24-48 hour figure I mentioned was IRT the Classic -

"Samsung estimates the Galaxy Watch 4 will last 40 hours on average and that’s largely in keeping with what I’ve experienced in the sense that it usually lasts between 24 and 48 hours with moderate use."

https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/smartwatches/1414169/samsung-galaxy-watch-4-classic-review

Samsung's 40 hour figure apparently applies to both sizes; I get that the 46mm model has a larger battery, but it also has a larger screen so perhaps this cancels the difference out?

Either way, I've got no plans to shift from my original Galaxy Watch which is still going strong and does all that I want - unless I use a poorly designed watch face I get three days (sometimes four) from it.

I have a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic that is about 8 months old, purchased new from Noel Leemings. It barely go through a day on a charge and on some days i needed to charge it before bed so it would see through the night. It has sat in a drawer in my office now for around 6 months as I have replaced it a Garmin Venu 2 Plus which gets charged once a week from about 20% left when I charge it. I thought the Apple watch was bad, also sitting in the same drawer but the Samsung is terrible.

I went from Android to Apple when I got the Apple watch then the Garmin. Apple and Samsung need to lift their game considerably withe batteries they put in their watches

i normally get about 2 days out of mine, but the more notifications etc you get the less it lasts

i have heart rate every 10 mins and when asleep, google assistant and a few other things turned on, which you could turn off for more battery. but i doubt you could get too much more than 2 days

i find auto brightness is pretty useless at changing the screen, and would love the watch only mode to include step counter.

suppose to be another update for it due out soon too.

My son got a 44mm from Mighty Ape. And yes, on first boot up it was in Chinese but we eventually got it figured out. On the plus side, the blood pressure and ecg modes that you have to side load on the NZ model were active from the start on his one.

From what I can remember MA gave the same 2 year warranty that Samsung give.

Have a look at the Amazfit watches. I have the GTR2 which I'm very happy with. 4 to 5 day battery life which can go out to around 12 to 14 days by turning off the always on screen. It's a good looking watch with good functionality.

My wife got a Samsung watch as part of a deal with her phone a couple of years ago. She doesn't use it and I tried it but with barely a day between charging I gave up on it. I started my smart watch life with a Pebble Steel then a Pebble 2 so I was spoiled by their battery life.
