I have a 128GB Pixel 6 and the battery expanded to a point where 1/3 of the screen has lifted. I got a quote in March it was read like this:

$257 all incl.
4 Hour Repair
Original Battery
6 Month Warranty

I have a pixel 8 pro, this is just to put back life into the older one and have it as a spare for now.

Is it worth it? I can't bring myself to just throwing it out. Considering a second hand one is $300+-?

Update support for that generation ends 01 Oct 2026. Depends if you feel it's worth it for another year. I think the alternate o/s also end support at the same time these days.

I recently did something similar with my Pixel 6a. The battery wasn't obviously swollen, but the screen has popped out of its frame. I also had nearly 800 charge cycles, and Google had rolled out an update that nerfed the battery after 400 cycles.

I got a battery from AliExpress. I also needed some screen adhesive, and tools including a spudger, prying picks, and a torx T3 screwdriver.

The operation was fairly easy and the worst part was getting the screen back in place. It cost way less than getting it done professionally and the phone appears to be working well. I bought a Pixel 9 as my daily driver while I was waiting for the battery to arrive, so I can't fully say if it's as good as new.

I availed myself of the refund Google offered for Pixel 6a. Battery life still nerfed but I got $735.80 in my account from Google pretty quickly.
