[Sorry if this is a duplicate post -- coping with technical issues here and can't see that my first attempt reached the forum]

Apologies for creating a new thread around the issue of the 3G switchoff next month, but I need info quickly and I'm concerned that my original post may get lost in the Pixel Owners / Buyers thread . . .

A fortnight ago I bought a Pixel 5 in response to the switchoff.  Then found that it's not provisioned for VoLTE 😬  Max has kindly confirmed that VoLTE works on Pixel 6.  But before I shell out yet more money replacing my current perfectly-good phone solely because of the switchoff I'd just like to know if there is someone out there:

  • who has a Pixel 6 (not 6a or 6Pro)
  • who hasn't rooted it or applied the IMS patch or used command lines or anything else fancy
  • who is with 2degrees (or, preferably, the Warehouse, since that's who I'm with)
  • and who has VoLTE working

(I don't care about VoWiFi and I'll cope with 5G in the hopefully-distant future where 4G gets switched off) I've trawled the entire Pixel VoLTE thread but haven't found any specific answers to the above, so hoping someone will see this post and can confirm I'll be OK with a P6.

I'll be buying it from GreenGadgets, so I assume an Australian model, in case it makes any difference.

Many thanks peeps 😀

No direct experience with 2degrees - but Google used to have a web page for Pixels 6 and up to see what networks supported what.

2 D were listed as supporting VoLTE and VoWifi

That page doesn't seem to be around any more (or at least I can't find ti)

@SaltyNZ can confirm this but I don't think Warehouse Mobile have VoLTE enabled?

Pretty sure 2degrees will work fine the second you pop a 2degrees sim in a P6.

https://www.2degrees.nz/help/mobile-help/calling-features/phones-compatible-with-volte-and-wifi-calling

Again, it supports it officially including VoWiFI (useful if roaming, no roaming fees when calling and texting).

If calling is important for you then the only sensible phone to get is one from your provider that they have set up to work and will support, or an iPhone.

Warehouse Mobile has had VoLTE enabled for quite a while now as it's almost essential in rural areas, they also finally enabled WiFi Calling earlier in the year too (not sure exactly when but I noticed the option was enabled in about August)

That's excellent to know. Have marked this as the answer.
